German Westerwald Salt-Glazed Crock
This kind of pots are also called as Keulse Pot or Cologne Pot since they were traded in Cologne. They also known as Westerwald pot because they were produced in the Westerwald area in Germany from the 15th century to the present day. They are made of ceramic material with a layer of salt glaze. This colourless layer of glaze makes the pot waterproof to store and preserve food for the winter.
