This is regimental shield badge of the Royal Marines. The brass crest is displaying the insignia with the motto 'Per Mare per Terram' which translates by sea, by land in English. It mounted to a solid wooden plaque along with brass scroll banner below it bearing the the text 'Royal Marines'. This wall shield badge is completed with two brass backplate for mounting.
